Story Behind

The traditional way of making Mahjong tiles is by carving and painting ivory by hand. This is the last day of an old Mahjong parlour in a local neighbourhood in Hong Kong. A craftswoman was hired to demonstrate a dying art form.

Artist

Jason Sung is a Chinese travel / social documentary photographer based in Hong Kong. He enjoys interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds, learning about their way of life, history and customs. When not travelling, Jason likes to photograph the street life in different areas of Hong Kong.
